Sheriff’s Department

The members of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department are committed to safeguarding the lives and property of Ventura County residents and responding to public concerns in a manner which promotes neighborhoods free from the fear of crime.

Since its incorporation in 1964, Thousand Oaks has contracted with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement services. As the City evolved into a well planned and highly desirable community to live, work and recreate in, the women and men of the Police Department continue to dedicate their professional skills toward enhancing the strong partnership we enjoy with the people we serve.

Fire Department

The Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) provides Fire protection services , medical aid, rescue, hazardous materials response, and a variety of other services to the City of Thousand Oaks. VCFD is an all-risk, full-service fire department, composed of 553 men and women.

The Ventura County Fire Department covers 848 square miles and serves more than 480,000 people in unincorporated areas of Ventura County and six of its cities.
